There are mainly three types of wireless data transmission techniques or the wireless network technologies.
1. wireless wide area network
2. wireless local area network
3. Bluetooth personal area network
Now here we are talking about Bluetooth technology .It is a short-range radio frequency.It operates at 2.4 GHz ISM band which is set by inter-nation agreements. It is available and unlicensed in most of the countries.
This technology replaces the use of hardwire between two devices or more and it does not cost anything doing that. Thus for official data transfer in the same office it is very much efficient.
Infrared data transfer is also an option for transfering data but it has lots of drawbacks.
Infrared transmission refers to energy in the region of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum at wavelengths longer than those of visible light, but shorter than those of radio waves. Correspondingly, infrared frequencies are higher than those of microwaves, but lower than those of visible light. Bluetooth technology is faster than Infrared data transfer.
Bluetooth Vs Infrared
Bluetooth is point to multipoint data and voice easy connectivity and the device can be mobile and stationary both with in a range of 10 mtr but infrared is a point to point data transfering (LOS Communication ) and the devices should be stationary while transfering & its range is 1 mtr.

Why is Bluetooth called Bluetooth .there is no relation by name and its meaning?
Its name came from the name of 10th century Danish King .It was actually named after king “Herald Blatand” or known as Herald Bluetooth.
Bluetooth technology was developed in 1994 at Ericsson in Sweden.It was developed by a Swedish mobile phone maker.
(H+B) = Bluetooth symbol
(>B) This Is the symbol. Here ” >” represent Ronic “H” of the Herald and “B” to Blatand.
So the symbol has nothing to do with blue teeth. lol….
Its range was about 10 mt but now range can be adjustable depending on the case or the device you are using . The manufacturer can upgrade and downgrade the range. The range can be different depending upon the class radio implantation.
Class 1 is used for industrial use basically .its range is about 100 mt
Class 2 is used for mobile devices range is about 10 mt.
Class 3 used for stable devices like printer desktop . its range is about 1 to 2 mt.

Is it safe transferring data through Bluetooth technology?????
This is the more common question user want to ask in any kind of data transfer system. The priority is the safety of data which is being sent. Bluetooth does not interface with WLAN , they both co-exist and use various ways to operate. But it can easily be hacked. Bluetooth can connect up to 8 devices and all these devices should be under 10 mar radius , this small network is called piconet.
How this Technology works????
Bluetooth technology uses “spread spectrum frequency Hopping” and modulation technique is Gaussian frequency shift keying .It ensures that the device will not transmit at the same frequency on which it is operating with other devices.It allows a spectrum of different frequency to operate and connect with different devices at the same time.Bluetooth technology is easy to install wireless connection , it’s cheap , easy connection and free to use.but it can be easily hacked into. If installed in the phone, it can get virus infection. It only allows short range communication.
What does it need ?
It needs to be upgraded . Greater the bandwidth , wider the communication distance. Bluetooth wireless technology is an open specification for low-cost low-power short range radio technology.
The concept behind the bluetooth technology is to provide a universal short-range of wireless capabilities .
